Hey undergrads! Congratulations on completing one more semester at UTD! Now that class projects are submitted and final exams concluded, it’s time to dive into summer. As you plan your best summer yet, consider participating in the two program opportunities specifically for undergraduates. They can help expand your research career goals and add value to your resume.

The first is The Exley, the University’s Undergraduate Research Journal. Undergraduates from various disciplines submit their analytical or creative work for publishing. Proposals should be between 300-500 words and provide an overview of your work, as well as why it is a good fit for The Exley. The deadline for Volume 6 Proposals is May 20, 2016. See the Guidelines for Proposal Submission for more details.

Or, if your research isn’t quite ready for publication, apply for an Undergraduate Research Grant. If your research project is chosen as part of this competitive process, you can be awarded a cash stipend of $500. At the end of the spring semester, you will display your results in the Undergraduate Research Poster Contest and earn a chance to win additional prizes. Submit your grant application for the 2016-2017 competition from August 22 to September 28, 2016 (5PM). For additional details, visit the Undergraduate Research Grants page.

So enjoy summer, have fun, and relax, but also take advantage of the opportunity to showcase your research work in The Exley or the Undergraduate Research Poster Competition. Let others see the results of your hard work and receive recognition too.
