Derive Art Exhibit

The Derive Art Exhibit ‘Like a Tornado Touching Down, The Dream is Connected to the Dreamer’ opened last week in the Administration Building (AD).  According to his faculty page, curator Dr. Greg Metz’s research aims to use “creative intervention to create positive change in my community”.

Artwork installations from Derive Art bring research to working environments. By exploring a variety of topics such as social issues, applications with experimental materials, identity projection, and objectification in new media, the art pieces encourage inhabitants to engage and challenge day-to-day encounters. Through their research, Dr. Metz and his team aim to learn more about the effects and impacts their art installation create, as well as the value their pieces bring to work environments.

Various mixed media artwork now adorn one wing in the Administration building.
From small to large, a mixture of artwork will be on display until December.
Dr. Greg Metz, curator and a Senior Lecturer, in the School of Arts and Humanities, specializes in gallery and exhibition studies, social practice, sculpture, and printmaking.
