Dr. Jie Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. Dr. Zhang is one of this year’s recipients of the Office of Naval Research’s (ONR) Young Investigator Award for his research on Deep Learning-based Reliability and Resilience Enhancement of Future Navy Ships and Their Integration into Power Networks under Extreme Events. The program aims to support academic scientists and engineers who are in their first or second full-time tenure-track or tenure-track-equivalent academic appointment and who show exceptional promise for doing creative research.
