Research activities enhance analytical and critical thinking skills, which prepare undergraduates for the rigors of their profession or graduate studies. How do I begin?

• Start early. Determine the areas in which you are most interested. Sources you can use to help are your courses, textbooks, journals, and talking to TAs and professors.
• Read the research descriptions of faculty members in related areas or via the school websites.
• Pick 2-4 labs you are interested in. Learn about them via their websites, abstracts and papers.
• If the work still interests you, contact the lab or professor by email to introduce yourself and ask if there are any openings.
