Two staff members of the UT Dallas Research, Campus, and Environmental Safety (UTD Safety) team have received accolades for outstanding efforts as Safety Culture Champions in Community Engagement.

Ms. Renée Witherspoon, UTD’s Program Manager for Occupational Hygiene and Safety, facilitated a national peer task force to develop and deliver a “Safety Culture 101” learning module through the higher education leadership organization, CSHEMA. Renée’s contributions promote advancement of safety culture principles among a world-wide community of safety professionals.

UTD Fire Marshal Steven McDonald collaborated with UTD stakeholders and the Richardson Fire Department (RFD) to develop an interactive mapping and web-based resource to bolster first responder support on the UTD campus and in the greater Richardson community. This enhancement facilitates achievement of RFD’s vision to be a department on the leading edge of technology and customer service. Steven’s contributions demonstrate his commitment to acting as a transformative agent within the lives and experiences of the communities we reach.
