At the UT Dallas, we offer a variety of research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
Engaging in research as an undergraduate has academic, personal, and professional benefits. Research activities enhance analytical and critical thinking skills, which prepare undergraduates for the rigors of their profession or graduate studies. Our graduate students benefit from our research-oriented academic programs, collaborative relationships, exceptional teaching and mentoring and access to our many vibrant research centers.
How do I begin?
- Start early. Determine the areas in which you are most interested. Sources you can use to help are your courses, textbooks, journals, and talking to TAs and professors.
- Read the research descriptions of faculty members in related areas or via the school websites.
- Pick 2-4 labs you are interested in. Learn about them via their websites, abstracts and papers.
- If the work still interests you, contact the lab or professor by email to introduce yourself and ask if there are any openings.
