Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce the renaming of the “Office of Research” to the “Office of Research and Innovation” effective Sept 1, 2021. There are several reasons for this change:
- Our Office has a role in fostering innovation throughout the University via the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Blackstone LaunchPad, and the Venture Development Center.
- Innovation is the goal for many of the programmatic experiments for which we now regularly undertake. Examples include research development activities (e.g., seed grants), new approaches to promote research integrity, and the Capital Factory and the Richardson Innovation Quarter partnerships.
“Office of Research and Innovation” aligns with University’s strategic plan goals, specifically “One of the most creative and innovative universities in the world.”
Sincerely,
Joseph J. Pancrazio, PhD
Vice President for Research
