The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded Dr. Michael Kesden $299,876 for his research project WoU-MMA: Gravitational Lensing of Photons and Gravitational Waves in the Era of Multi-Messenger Astrophysics. The project will examine whether upcoming electromagnetic surveys like the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) can provide catalogs to help identify the host galaxy of lensed gravitational wave events, if lensing reconstruction from electromagnetic observations can help identify time-delayed images in gravitational waves data, and whether combined electromagnetic and gravitational wave observations can improve the constraints on lens and source models.
