This session is designed for investigators new to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process and those needing a refresher course. We will discuss the core principles of human subjects protection to outline why IRB approval is needed. We will also explore the IRB process at UTD and provide general tips for success. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the IRB staff.

Amanda Boone serves as the Director of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Office at UTD. She has worked for the Office of Research for over 17 years and has primarily focused on human subjects protection since 2015. Amanda previously held positions in the Office of Sponsored Projects, experiencing the adventures of grant submission and contract negotiation. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from Bowling Green State University and a BA in English from Kansas State University.
